FBI RAIDS PSJA ADMINISTRATION BUILDINGS

Also homes of superintendent and school board members

The FBI this morning raided the administration offices of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, as well as the homes of Superintendent Arturo Guajardo and a number of school board members.

"While acknowledging that federal law enforcement action was taken today at the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD offices and other locations associated with the school district, we are all constrained by law from disclosing any further information at this time," said United States Attorney Michael Shelby. "This activity is part of an ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed and no conclusions should be drawn from today's action."

Texas Education Agency spokeswoman Suzanne Marchman said her agency was aware of the raid but had not yet heard from school district officials. "I am sure that at some point we will be trying to learn more," Marchman said.

KGBT 4 obtained an interview with Guajardo. Click here for the Team4News report.

In the past, the long-serving Guarjardo has been mentioned as a potential candidate for elected office in Hidalgo County. His name has most recently been linked to the Texas House District 39 seat held by state Rep.-elect Mando Martinez (D-Weslaco).
