TED POE “HONORED” THAT HE’S BEEN ASKED ABOUT TAKING OVER AS HARRIS COUNTY DA

First ADA Belinda Hill also rumored to be in the running

HOUSTON -- Members of the political chattering class in Houston have been trying to figure out who Gov. Perry will tap to replace the late Harris County District Attorney, Mike Anderson, who died at age 57 this past weekend after losing his battle with cancer.

The potential candidates for the job include U.S. Rep. Ted Poe, R-Humble, who had a reputation when he was a judge for creative sentencing. He’d have people do things like wear a sandwich board that included a message about what their crime was. Poe told QR this morning that he’s “Honored that so many have asked me to pursue DA appointment but I am interested in continuing to represent Texas in Congress.” Keen observers will note that statement is not a hard “no.”
