TOMMY WILLIAMS CALLS OUT DAN PATRICK FOR EXPLANATION OF NO VOTE ON BUDGET

"His unannounced opposition to the Conference Committee Report on Senate Bill 1 was a betrayal of every member of the Senate Finance Committee who worked in good faith to prepare this budget."

Responding to Senator Dan Patrick's (R-Houston) explanation of his surprise vote against the budget, Tommy Williams (R-The Woodlands) penned a stinging rebuttal that appeared in today's Texas Tribune.

Patrick's first public explanation of his "no" vote was during a Trib Live interview with Evan Smith.

Williams took strong exception to Patrick's claim that he was unhappy with some education budget cuts pointing out, "In part, Patrick said he opposed the budget due to his concerns about specific public education programs not being funded."

"The problem with these comments," Williams continued, "is that Patrick was directly responsible for these same education programs not being funded. Such revisionism cannot go unchallenged."
