UPDATED: MAILERS SENT TARGETING LOW PERFORMERS ON TFR FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY REPORT CARD
Voters in at least three members’ districts are getting the mailers, which have a big, red “F” stamped on them, although 45 Republicans had scores less than 60
UPDATE: Because I added the sentence based on a trusted source but did not independently verify the number of vote advisories sent out by TFR, I have removed the reference to number of vote notes sent vs. those that were picked for the report card. HK We’ve
been shown here at Buzz Central three fliers distributed by Empower Texans/Texans for Fiscal
Responsibility targeting legislators who earned poor scores on its most
recent Fiscal Responsibility Index.
All
three lawmakers – state Reps. Sarah Davis
(R-West University Place), Trent Ashby
(R-Lufkin) and Patricia Harless
(R-Spring) – had a big red “F” affixed to their fliers. Harless received a
50.2 grade on this year’s FRI. Ashby and Davis received 48.9 and 44.7 ratings,
respectively.
Morgan
Williamson
of Empower Texans declined to tell QR how many other lawmakers will be
the subject of mailers.
“Texans
for Fiscal Responsibility has sent mail into legislative districts
informing Texans of the score their legislator received on the 2013 Fiscal
Responsibility Index,” Williamson said. “As you know, we inform Texans in
advance of the Session what issues we are monitoring, and what votes are
subject to inclusion. We have begun sending mail that includes the legislator's
rating, examples of votes, and the ratings of other legislators for comparison.”
