DAVIS LAYS OUT FIRST OF A SERIES OF EDUCATION PROPOSALS TO RECRUIT AND RETAIN GOOD TEACHERS AND COUNSELORS

Abbott accuses her of "Fuzzy Math" although neither of their plans are costed

Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis released a six point “First Education Plank” focused on teachers and counselors.   She characterized the ideas as “Great Teachers: Great Texas.”

The six ideas that she characterized as “common sense reforms” included mechanisms for recruiting high school students to teach by guaranteeing early college acceptance and a job, tax exemptions to help teachers aides return to school to get their certification and expanding the “Teach for Texas Loan Repayment” program.
