IGNORING SEN. TAYLOR OBJECTION, PERRY APPOINTS PLAINTIFF ATTORNEY ASSOCIATE TO REPLACE JUDGE SUSAN CRISS
Tort reformers worry that "Bret" Griffin will be plaintiff attorney ally, especially since court hears TWIA and BP litigations
Governor
Rick Perry today lit up the tort
reform community with his appointment of attorney Darren “Bret” Griffin to the bench.
Griffin will be filling the vacancy left by Susan Criss who resigned to run for Craig Eiland’s
(D-Galveston) now open seat.
What
has created the stir is that Griffin is seen as a friend and ally of prominent
plaintiff attorney Tony Buzbee. Perry
had previously appointed Buzbee to the Texas
A&M Board of Regents. In addition, Griffin and his wife both
reportedly have business dealings with Buzbee.
