Attorneys for Midland
oilman Tim Dunn's spokesman Michael Quinn Sullivan have filed in Denton
County, not Travis County, to appeal the Texas Ethics Commission’s
finding that Sullivan is indeed a professional lobbyist who has failed to
register.
When asked why Denton
County is the venue for this, Sullivan’s attorney Joe Nixon told Quorum Report “That’s where Michael
resides.” That assertion of fact is also in the filing for a “de novo” appeal.
Nixon said he did not know
the exact date Sullivan moved from Austin to Denton County but he said it was
prior to August 22, which is the day the appeal was filed.
