Tax bills from the House hit Senate Finance Committee
Oil and Gas lobby presses for simplification of qualifying for school district tax breaks
A slew of Texas House tax bills arrived in the
Senate
Finance Committee on Tuesday, including one to simplify qualifying for
school district tax breaks.
A bill to combine school district jurisdictions for the
purpose of qualifying for Chapter 313 agreements generated the
most interest. Heath DePriest,
representing Phillips 66, said the company’s $3.5 billion project crossed
three school districts, a combination of pipeline, storage and export
facilities.
Over the next five years, Phillips 66 anticipates spending
another $15 billion, primarily around the Central United States and primarily
in Texas, DePriest said.
