Updated: Open carry passes out of Senate committee following huge gun battle
Opponents warn against attaching campus carry on Senate floor
A clearly
emotional Sen. Brian Birdwell told
the Senate
State Affairs Committee this afternoon the focus of yesterday’s
Waco shootout should be the masterful execution of local responders and not the
ability of people to carry handguns.
A total of
170 suspects were booked for a shootout at the Waco Twin Peaks restaurant
yesterday that left 9 dead and 18 injured. Today, bond was set at $1 million
and the restaurant franchise license was revoked.
Police said all those injured and killed were in rival biker gangs and not
restaurant patrons.
Birdwell
praised the law enforcement officers who handled the scene on Sunday.
