with defunding Planned Parenthood – SB
Two of
the most visible of the state’s three major pro-life groups has issued a
statement saying it does not support a government shutdown over defunding Planned
Parenthood.
Joe Pojman of Texas Alliance for Life
said this afternoon that shifting funds to other women’s health providers is a
smarter strategy than forcing a standoff with Pres. Barack Obama over Planned Parenthood.
“Texas Alliance for Life applauds
the strong efforts of Republican leadership in Congress to move forward with a
strategy of shifting funds from Planned Parenthood to better providers of
women's health services -- providers who are not part of the abortion
industry,” Pojman said. “The Texas Legislature and
other states have already shown this can be done.”
