Lawmakers dismayed by the limited housing funds available for Harvey relief

lawmakers appeared dismayed by the limited funding the Texas Department of Housing and
Community Affairs has cobbled together to address Hurricane Harvey.
A
number of
members on the dais this week, including Chair Rep. Carol Alvarado, D-Houston, are dealing directly with the damage
left by what is now being called the biggest disaster ever in the state of
Texas. Today’s hearing was intended to update what various agencies, including TDHCA,
could bring to the table in terms of funding.
