Sen. Bettencourt presses complaints on integrity of voter rolls, asks for state solution
Bettencourt has targeted two locations – one in Rep. Jim Murphy’s district and one in Rep. Sarah Davis’ district – to point out people are voting from something other than their home address
Sen. Paul Bettencourt is pressing the Department
of Public Safety and the Secretary of State’s office to close
a loophole that would allow people to vote from a post office box address.
The
pressure is on during this election season and Bettencourt, like many Harris
County Republicans, is feeling the heat even in the suburbs.
Four
years ago, when Bettencourt was elected senator, suburban Harris County was solid Dan
Patrick country.
Now it seems
more purple, Bettencourt admits.
