Ballot eligibility for GOP candidate questioned in swing Texas House district in Tarrant County
Running to succeed Rep. Zedler, Dem Joe Drago says Republican David Cook may be ineligible for office; this comes after Rep. Dan Flynn's son was ruled ineligible in Houston
A North Texas Democrat is
alleging his Republican opponent is ineligible to run for the Legislature
because he already holds elected office.
Attorney and Democrat Joe
Drago wrote on Facebook yesterday that Mansfield Mayor David Cook,
his Republican opponent, is ineligible to run as a sitting officeholder under
unspecified election law.
The two are running for
the open House District 96 seat spanning southern Tarrant County.
It’s the one currently held by retiring Rep. Bill Zedler,
who made a last-minute retirement announcement.
