GLO pushes ahead with hearings on $4.2 billion in disaster mitigation funds
The General
Land Office hosted the first of three hearings on how to spend $4.3
billion in Hurricane Harvey mitigation funds that must be devoted to critical
infrastructure upgrades.
A state action plan
is due to the Department of Housing and Urban Development in
February. During a presentation in Austin this past week, Deputy Land
Commissioner Mark Havens said 140 counties hit by the 2015, 2016 and Hurricane
Harvey floods were eligible to apply for the funds.
