Push begins anew to raise the tobacco sale age from 18 to 21
Chairs Huffman and Zerwas flanked by medical professionals and kids who say it is past time to end legal sales of tobacco to teens
A
broad coalition of health providers and others came together today asking Texas
lawmakers to stop the sale of tobacco to those who are under 21.
The
group had the legislative backing of Senator Joan Huffman, R-Houston, who chairs State Affairs and has authored Senate Bill 21. The House
version, HB 749, is by Rep. John Zerwas, R-Richmond, the chair of Appropriations.
