Saying there were no real negotiations, the Texas oil and gas industry slams Senate committee vote on eminent domain bill
Texas Oil and Gas Association President Staples says it’s “not a compromise bill”; the Farm Bureau counters “Sen. Kolkhorst did an admirable job in identifying reasonable language that assuages the concerns of all parties”
What
seemed more like polite disagreement last week is turning into a throwdown this
week over proposed changes to the state’s eminent domain laws approved by a Texas
Senate committee on Monday.
The
powerful Texas Oil and Gas Association – along with the Texas
Pipeline Association – is telling Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick that the latest version of Sen. Lois Kolkhorst’s eminent domain “reform” bill “not a compromise”
and will “cripple the ability to provide essential services to Texans.”
Landowners
disagreed and praised Sen. Kolkhorst for how she has handled the “divisive
issue.”
