SB: Many GOP House members not satisfied with explanation from Speaker Bonnen just as MQ Sullivan now claims to have recorded their meeting
Some think Bonnen still hasn’t quite refuted MQ Sullivan’s allegations, which Sullivan still has not proven; meantime the Speaker asks his witness, Chair Burrows, to remain silent. Is this a case of mutually assured political destruction?
The “X-Men”
say they are here to stay. That’s the informal name some are now using for the
10 (Roman numeral X) Republicans on the list of Texas House
members allegedly targeted by Speaker Dennis Bonnen and GOP Caucus
Chairman Dustin Burrows. “I got dibs on being Beast because all
this is making me blue,” said one of the Republicans on the list. If you don’t
get the reference, click here. Some
think “The Expendables” is a better name, though.
Whatever you call them,
Bonnen has yet to put the controversy to bed and he was said to still be
visibly frustrated about it on Wednesday. Meantime Empower Texans
spokesman Michael Quinn Sullivan again upped the ante by saying late Wednesday
that he has a recording of
the meeting from start to finish. Sullivan did not provide the audio and, again, nothing from him should be taken at face value. We’ve asked the speaker’s
office for comment.
So where are we with all
this?
