With Rep. Neave the lone Democrat voting yes, House Judiciary advances the Born Alive Protection Act

Neave, who represents a swing district, says her vote "aye" is a reflection of her Catholic faith and she hopes Chairman Leach can keep amendments off the bill

With one Democrat voting “aye” and after a testy exchange between Vice Chair Jessica Farrar and Chairman Jeff Leach, the Texas House Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence Committee on Monday voted to advance the “Born Alive Protection Act.”

Among other things, the bill creates a cause of action against a doctor who does not provide all possible life saving care for a baby born as the result of a botched abortion.
