Abbott is hoping for quick Treasury guidance on how $11.2 billion in CARES Act funding can be spent without potential clawbacks by the feds

After sources told Quorum Report over the last few days that Gov. Greg Abbott is potentially looking at cuts across state agencies of up to 20%, he emphatically denied that to members of the Texas Legislature and Congress on a private conference call Thursday morning. That’s according to people familiar with the discussions.

As pieced together from those who were on the private conference call – the way in which much of state government is being run amid the coronavirus pandemic – here is some of the rest of what was said by the state’s chief executive officer.
