DPS and Travis County DA say no crime occurred in allegations of date rape drug used on a Capitol Staffer
"DPS has conducted a thorough investigation following allegations of drugging of a Capitol staffer by a lobbyist. Together, we have concluded that there is not enough evidence to support these allegations and that criminal charges are not appropriate. No crime occurred in this instance.”
Full statement from the Travis
County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of
Public Safety:
“The Texas Department
of Public Safety and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office take the
allegation of drugging women very seriously. We work hard to ensure that potential
victims are always treated with respect and dignity, and we encourage all women
to continue reporting potential crimes to us.
DPS has conducted a
thorough investigation following allegations of drugging of a Capitol staffer
by a lobbyist. Together, we have concluded that there is not enough evidence to
support these allegations and that criminal charges are not appropriate. No
crime occurred in this instance.”
Shortly after that announcement
was made, Bill Miller at Hillco
send this statement:
“We noted the DPS
statement today that neither HillCo nor the ‘person
of interest’ associated with our firm had absolutely anything to do with the
recent drugging allegation. In other
words, DPS found we are completely clear of any and all
wrongdoing. Furthermore, we are
informed, both our firm and the individual are named as victims in the final
report. The announcement today confirms
our own internal investigation into the issue.
We commend law enforcement for a forceful and swift investigation into
this serious matter.”
