What to possibly expect on the revenue estimate next week

One wild card this session – more than it ever has been before – is the federal funds; current projections, from Comptroller Hegar’s revenue numbers, show a $17 billion delta, year over year

The final sales tax numbers of the year – down 5 percent from 2019 – aren’t exactly the shot in the arm many would have hoped for in the days before Comptroller Glenn Hegar pulls the trigger on the BRE.

Hegar tweeted today the BRE, or biennial revenue estimate, is only a week away. That makes next Monday a key day for the session, and one that will help shape how much latitude lawmakers might have in the upcoming budget.
