In the increasingly nasty Austin mayoral runoff, Sen. Zaffirini distances herself and son from attack ad against Rep. Israel

Sen. Zaffirini’s son Carlos is listed as a top donor to a PAC that hit Israel on the issue of affordable housing; both Zs said they thought the money would go toward an effort to portray former Sen. Watson in a positive light

Veteran of the Texas Legislature Sen. Judith Zaffirini spent some of her Monday evening explaining that she does “not condone” a campaign attack against Rep. Celia Israel in the retiring legislator’s bid to lead the City of Austin as mayor. Israel and former Sen. Kirk Watson, of course, are locked in battle ahead of the December 13 runoff.

Zaffirini felt compelled to comment after it was pointed out that her son, Carlos Zaffirini, is listed as one of the top five donors to a group called Stand Together Austin.
