Sources say Abbott chief strategist Dave Carney acknowledges privately that attacks on GOP House incumbents were based on untrue "bullshit"

Carney is also reported to have said on at least one conference call that “we’ve crossed the Rubicon for gubernatorial decorum”

The veteran chief political strategist for Gov. Greg Abbott, Dave Carney, has in recent weeks felt much more liberated to talk candidly with insiders about the way his top client brazenly went after Texas House Republicans in their primaries leading up to Super Tuesday.

That’s according to multiple sources who recalled that Carney has said on at least one conference call with some donors that Abbott’s border-themed attacks on anti-school voucher Republicans were based on untrue “bullshit.”
