Texas Young Republicans split from the Republican Party of Texas and vote no confidence in RPT Chair Rinaldi
Rinaldi’s preferred candidate for Chair of the National Young Republicans lost to Texas candidate Hayden Padgett; the Texas YR’s sided with Padgett while Rinaldi says he’s “never seen such an unhinged temper tantrum from a winning team.”
National and state level Young
Republican groups over the weekend delivered two strong rebukes to Republican
Party of Texas Chairman Matt Rinaldi, who had actively supported
a non-Texan against Texan Hayden Padgett in the race to lead the Young
Republican National Federation.
Padgett defeated the Virginia-based
candidate backed by Rinaldi, Jessi Blakely.
After that, Texas Young
Republicans not only voted to leave the RPT as a partner organization
but they also voted no confidence in Chair Rinaldi, who said he’d “seriously
never seen such an unhinged temper tantrum from a winning team.”
We are in the era of sore
winners, after all.
