Former Chairman Jim Pitts passed away in Dallas tonight

It
is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of former Texas State
Representative Jim Pitts. Representative Pitts passed away today at Baylor
Hospital in Dallas, surrounded by his loved ones shortly before midnight on
July 20, 2024.
Jim
Pitts dedicated his life to public service, representing House District 10 in
the Texas House of Representatives, which comprised Ellis County, Hill County,
and a portion of Henderson County, from 1993 to 2015. During his tenure, he
served as Chairman of Appropriations from 2005 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2015.
Representative Pitts was known for his commitment to education, fiscal
responsibility, and advocating for the needs of his constituents.
Beyond
his legislative achievements, Jim Pitts was a beloved father, grandfather,
brother, uncle, and friend. His contributions to our community and the state of
Texas will be remembered for years to come.
The
Pitts family appreciates the outpouring of support and condolences during this
