People on the Move
A key staffer moves on, agency news, lobby news, and a promotion for a first rate newsman
It’s circling back time, isn’t it?
Calls, emails, texts, and messaging apps are coming
back to life as y’all return from the holidays and start digging into what’s been
going on while you were unplugged. I also know that some of you were hurt by
the fact that the Texas Take podcast took two weeks off during the holidays.
Just for you, Jeremy Wallace and I kicked off the new year with a
90-minute special edition you can find right here.
Coming up in June, we’ll celebrate 8 years of hosting the number one politics
podcast in Texas. Seems like just yesterday they roped me into doing that thing.
Meantime, a new year means new beginnings for
some of you. It still seems like the political economy, if you will, has shrunk
a bit as some have struggled to find work and career announcements slowed to a
trickle. But there are some significant moves to tell you about as we start
2024.
Some of you may remember that People one
the Move was born after the 2017 special session when there was a wave
of retirements from the lobby. Various players wanted to know which work
opportunities had opened up and who was filling the
roles that had become available. There was a time when Ross Ramsey did
something similar back when he ran Texas Weekly. Before that, the
legendary Sam Kinch was the guy for this sort of thing when he founded
Texas Weekly in 1984. Now it is well established that the most efficient way to
inform the Texas Capitol community about a career move is to have
it appear in the pages of Quorum Report. Your part is easy: Just
send the career news – it can be about you or someone else – to ksbraddock@gmail.com and use “POTM” in
the subject line so I can keep it all straight. Please and thank you.
Here’s the first edition of POTM for 2024.
