April 2, 2025 5:42 PM On a vote of 21 to 10, the Texas Senate confirms the controversial nomination of Justin Berry to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement APD Officer Berry was indicted along with other officers following clashes with protesters in Austin. Sen. Eckhardt, who led the charge against Berry, said "his nomination is less about his qualifications and more about sending a message: if you protest in Texas, expect to be shot.”
