Property tax cap legislation likely headed to conference after it was blown up on the Texas House floor
With no policy preference stated by Gov. Abbott, Chair Meyer likely heads to a conference with Sen. Bettencourt after losing control of the bill on the House floor as the far right joined with Democrats to make significant changes
A bill focused
on the requirement that cities get voter approval before increasing taxes at a
certain level blew up on the Texas House floor Monday as some of the
most conservative members joined with Democrats on amendments drastically

It puts Ways
and Means Chair Morgan Meyer on a path to trying to hammer out
